- Emmanuel's Gift (very inspiring story of an amputee bike rider overcoming incredible cultural odds in Africa)
- Facing the Giants (ignore the mediocre acting at the beginning and keep watching!)

- God Grew Tired of Us (inspiring story of three "Lost Boys" of Sudan)

- Hamlet (L. Olivier or Mel Gibson versions are preferred)
- Henry V (K. Branagh version..origin of "band of brothers" and much more)

- Little Dieter Wants to Fly (story of an incredible escape from a Vietnamese prison camp)

- The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill (this guy makes the Bird Man of Alcatraz look like a pansy)
- The Young Lions (Brando is a Nazi in one of his best roles!)
- To Be and to Have (a French teacher's last year--great film and very bittersweet!)
- Touching the Void (one of the best survival films ever!)
- United 93 (a VERY realistic take on the events of 9/11)
- Ushpizin (a modern look at the Feast of Tabernacles celebration in modern day Israel)
- Young @ Heart (wonderful film about 70-95 year olds singing everything from Coldplay to James Brown)
